Give Smiles to Kids with Cancer!
Camp Hobe' offers fun-filled psychosocial support programs for children being treated for cancer (or similarly-treated disorders) and their families, including summer camps and family outings. Our mission is to create an atmosphere that enhances self-esteem, fosters independence and friendships, and offers a sense of belonging. Each year, our summer camp program offers 1 virtual session for ages 6-19 years and 3 in-person sessions - 5-day overnight for ages 7-11 years, 5-day overnight for ages 12-19 years, and 2-day hybrid day/overnight for ages 4-6 years. Our family outing program offers at least 4 free family events throughout the year.
Participants have the freedom to "just be kids" for a time and to stretch their limits physically, mentally, and socially. We provide the opportunity for these families to forget the realities of life and meet others facing similar experiences. The campers and families of Camp Hobe' experience the joy of life as it was meant to be for a child, full of laughter, music, pranks, adventure, and fun.
Families dealing with the expenses of treatment are often unable to afford the luxuries of camp or outside activities. Therefore, we charge minimal registration fees for the camp programs ($35/child for the 5-day in-person sessions, $15/child for 2-day in-person sessions, $10/child for Virtual camp), which do not come near to covering our actual program costs of more than $200 per camper per day of in-person camp. Family outings are provided free of charge.
