Community Action Services & Food Bank

is committed to fostering self-reliance in individuals,

families, and communities in Summit County

by providing Food...& More!

We envision vibrant, sustainable communities where each resident has:

Safe & affordable housing;

Healthy & life-sustaining food;

Adequate economic opportunities; and

People in their life they can count on.

Growing Need

For many of our neighbors experiencing homelessness or at risk for homelessness, our vision feels impossible.

High inflation and high housing costs have hit Utah families hard--low-income families have been especially impacted. Already living on the edge of their budgets, some are now having to choose between paying their rent and buying groceries, diapers, or medications. Others' budgets are so broken, that they have already lost their housing.

So far in 2023, we've served 2x's as many people in CASFB's food pantries in Summit County than we did during all of last year.

Food Assistance

Food assistance helps families stretch their budgets. The dollars they would have spent on food can be spent on rent or other basic needs.  CASFB operates 2 food pantries that support rural Summit County--one in Oakley and one in Coalville, as well as distributes food to community partners in Summit County, including Park City.

Food Distribution in Summit County (Jan - Sep 2023)

Location Pounds of Food Meals (~1.2 lbs of food/meal)
Coalville CASFB Food Pantry 40,209 33,509
Oakley CASFB Food Pantry 34,176 28,480

CASFB also helps the Summit County economy by purchasing locally-grown produce from disadvantaged growers.

Housing Assistance

In addition to food assistance, CASFB also provides case management services to connect residents to housing & other resources, such as emergency shelter vouchers and rent assistance, as funding is available.
