The Challenges We Face

According to the 2021 Summit County Community Engagement & Behavioral Health Survey by the Summit County Health Department, “among the roughly one-third of respondents who have needed mental health services in the past year, 30.8 percent report being unable to get needed services; this was primarily due to cost, perceived availability, lack of time, not wanting help, stigma/shame, or not knowing where to go.” For those living with depression, anxiety, or other mental health challenges, we're here to tell you that you are not alone, and we are here to help you.

"The People's Voice for Mental Health in Summit County."

CONNECT Summit County is normalizing the conversation of mental health through our Part of Our Nature campaign. By emphasizing that changes in our mental health are a "part of our nature," we can reduce stigma and encourage people to reach out and access resources. It's ok to not feel ok, and CONNECT Summit County is here to help you on your mental health journey.

By donating, you support:

  1. Providing mental health resources in English and Spanish: Our Peer Navigation Services and Mental Health Resource Directory are here to help direct people towards resources that fit their needs.
  2. Erasing the stigma associated with mental health challenges: Changes in our mental health are just part of our nature. It's ok to not feel ok, and it's ok to ask for help if you need it. CONNECT Summit County is working to share stories from the community so that more people feel comfortable reaching out for help.
  3. Addressing the high cost of care: CONNECT Summit County is working to provide mental health scholarships for Summit County residents who cannot obtain services because of financial barriers.
  4. Year-round trainings and events for local residents, businesses, and mental health providers: More than 500 people attended trainings and events held by CONNECT in 2021. CONNECT's trainings and events give individuals tools and resources to care for themselves, friends, and family members who may be experiencing a mental health challenge.
  5. Mental Health Awareness Month: Every May, CONNECT Summit County participates in the national conversation about mental health awareness by hosting a community calendar with weekly events and activities. Residents and visitors to Summit County can attend to increase their awareness, combat stigma, and take action to elevate the mental health of our community.

Thank you to everyone who has supported CONNECT Summit County with matching grants: Joe Butterfield and Friends, Sally and David Nadler, and CONNECT's very own Board of Directors! We could not do this work without you.
