The Challenges We Face

According to the Summit County Health Department's 2021 Summit County Community Engagement & Behavioral Health Survey, “among the roughly one-third of respondents who have needed mental health services in the past year, 30.8 percent report being unable to get needed services; this was primarily due to cost, perceived availability, lack of time, not wanting help, stigma/shame, or not knowing where to go.” If you are living with depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, or any other mental health challenge, you are not alone. It's okay to not be okay, and we are here to listen and direct you to appropriate mental health resources and services.

"The People's Voice for Mental Health"

As the people's voice for mental health, CONNECT Summit County is erasing stigma and normalizing our conversations about our mental health. CONNECT is here to help you on your mental health journey.

Your donation supports:

  1. Delivery of comprehensive mental health resources. CONNECT culls and continually updates information about mental health services in both English and Spanish. Our signature live Peer Navigation Services and online and printed Mental Health Resource Directory inform people about resources that fit their specific mental health needs.
  2. Addressing the high cost of care. CONNECT Summit County's Financial Assistance Program ensures that community members who cannot obtain therapy services because of financial barriers may see a therapist of their choice. The application for financial assistance is a simple, one-page form, in both English and Spanish.
  3. Year-round trainings and events. CONNECT provides educational opportunities for community members, businesses, and mental health providers. More than 500 people attended CONNECT's trainings and events in 2021. Through educational presentations and workshops, CONNECT gives people the tools and resources to care for themselves, as well as their friends and family members who may be experiencing mental health challenges.
  4. State of Mind. Held annually in early winter, State of Mind is a cutting-edge virtual symposium about the state of mental health in Summit County and other local areas. Through this two-day event, CONNECT brings together experts who deliver timely information about current topics affecting people's mental health.
  5. Mental Health Awareness Month. Each May, CONNECT participates in the national conversation about mental health by hosting a community calendar of weekly events and activities, both online and in person. Participants may attend any event free of charge to increase their awareness, combat stigma, and take action to elevate the mental health of our community.
  6. Advocacy. Staff members of CONNECT Summit County sit on county and statewide committees and participate regularly in conferences about current trends in mental health. We also stay up to date on mental health legislation that affects our community members.
