Friends of the CJC-Child Abuse Awareness & Support

The Friends of the Solomon Children’s Justice Center of Summit County  (CJC) is a non-profit serving Summit County’s child abuse victims and their families, promoting the prevention of child abuse, and providing support to the CJC.

Since its inception in 2012, the CJC has served thousands of child victims and family members, providing the first point of contact in the investigative process and a safe haven for ongoing services. 

• Only 2% of the perpetrators are a stranger to the victim, which means the other 98% are friends, relatives, caretakers, acquaintances, or family members.  
• In Utah, 1 in every 6 boys and 1 in every 4 girls will be sexually abused before the age of 18.  

With your generous support, the Community for Children's Justice completed a $2.8M capital campaign in 2019 which was required to achieve our initial mission: to provide a fully equipped facility for child abuse victims and their families.  The house was retrofitted and occupied by Summit County Children’s Justice Center staff in December 2020. We can't believe it has been almost 4 years!

We continue to make additional improvements to our home and property.  In 2022-23, we winterized our roof in the back and front for safety and to remove large amounts of snow. This fall (2024), we added soundproofing panels to the interview rooms to improve sound quality for the multidisciplinary team (investigators, forensic interviewers, victim advocates, therapists),  we just finished a total re-pavement of our driveway.  Projects in 2025 and 2026 will be the installation of new windows in the interview rooms for further soundproofing and continually improving our landscaping

We've also been hard at work revising our mission to provide programs for awareness, education and prevention, and to help the world-class professionals of the Children's Justice Center accelerate the path to recovery for victims and their families.
