Mountainlands is the main provider of affordable housing in the Wasatch Back. Help us create more housing opportunities in our community!

Housing for People not Profit

Our mission is to create, preserve, and advocate for affordable housing in Summit and Wasatch Counties. Since 1993, we have completed over 300 affordable homes and 350 apartments.

With your support, we can continue to provide homes for the individuals and families that make our community the place we love.  At Mountainlands we believe housing is belonging and belonging builds a thriving community.

This year, our mission to create housing opportunities in the Wasatch Back has felt more urgent than ever. Rising housing costs and possible cuts to federal programs continue to put pressure on families, seniors, and individuals across our community. But thanks to the community support, our team has made real progress. Together, we’ve broken ground on new developments, worked to preserve existing affordable housing, and helped more people find a place to call home.

 HOPA Redevelopment

Twenty years ago, Mountainlands purchased the 122 units at Holiday Village and Parkside Apartments, preserving them from being converted into market-rate rentals or demolished to make way for a more lucrative use. Now, Mountainlands is preparing for the complete redevelopment of the entire site. By phasing construction, we will replace the existing units without displacing residents during construction and add units to the community.

CROWN at Parkview Place

Mountainlands is excited to announce the groundbreaking of six new townhomes in the Parkview Place neighborhood, which will be part of the Credits-to-Own (CROWN) Program. CROWN is a unique rent-to-own initiative that provides tenants with the opportunity to eventually purchase their homes at prices well below market value. Under the program, the homes are rented for 15 years in compliance with Utah Housing Corporation and IRS regulations. At the end of this compliance period, tenants are given the first right to purchase their home at a substantially reduced price, making homeownership far more attainable and affordable compared to market rates.

Parkview Place/ Self Help

Seventeen Parkview Place homes have been completed to date. Mountainlands will use the Self Help program to construct six unit townhomes on the remaining lots over the coming years.  The next 6 unit townhomes are now underway on the 49-lot affordable housing subdivision in Heber City.

The Self Help Program is a USDA/ Rural Development program sponsored by Mountainlands Community Housing Trust for low-income to very low-income families to achieve the dream of home ownership through “sweat equity”. Contact Self Help Manager Meredith Mortimer at meredith@housinghelp.org for more information on how to apply for the next Self Help cohort.
