Support the #AdaptiveNation

The National Ability Center empowers individuals of all abilities by building self-esteem, confidence and lifetime skills through sport, recreation and educational programs.

We adapt to make recreation and outdoor adventures accessible to people of all abilities – 365 days a year and across the state of Utah. Together, we start with “I CAN,” dream big and cherish every win – be it Paralympic gold, or quality time spent with family and friends.

As a leader in adaptive recreation and outdoor adventures, we rally around the belief that our differences make us stronger, and that recreating together can change our world. By including family and friends in programming, we strive to reinforce relationships and build support systems that extend beyond the initial program experience.

The cost of programs provided by the National Ability Center varies widely. From single day activities to in-depth multi-day retreats, the NAC provides comprehensive programs suited to a wide range of skills and abilities. Costs for programs range from $50 per experience to $300 depending upon the activity, equipment and specialized expertise required to help the program succeed.

NAC needs to continue providing 100% of scholarships requested, especially due to the current financial constraints of many of our participants. We have seen a dramatic increase in the need for scholarships: from an average of 25-50% covered growing to nearly 100% of cost requested to be covered. Removing financial barriers for the participants at the NAC creates a necessary level of independence. For our participants, the stress of finances can halt them in their attempt to try something new, keep them from getting back on the saddle of their favorite horse, rafting a new section of the Colorado River with family, or participating in a cycling lesson with friends. With financial support through NAC Program Scholarships, there is one less barrier to building self-esteem, confidence and lifetime skills through sport, recreation, and educational programs with friends and family.

The NAC is committed to continuing to build the #AdaptiveNation!
