Advocate Program:

Our Certified Dyslexia Advocates meet with families to ensure that children receive appropriate educational services and support. We assist over 100 students each year and provided 48 FREE dyslexia screenings during the 2023-2024 school year. With your support, we continue to improve & expand this program.

MIND Youth Program:

Our MIND Youth Program is designed to assist students with learning differences to develop self-advocacy skills and build self-esteem. MIND holds educational & social event5 and older students act as mentors in the program. Programs are open to all students in the PCSD area with learning differences.

Elevating Literacy Program:

PC READS is committed to ensuring that effective reading instruction is provided to ALL students by educating and supporting parents and teachers. We provide Professional Development Grants and host an annual Elevating Literacy Award. Each teacher we reach has the ability to change hundreds, if not thousands, of students' lives through improved reading instruction.  A few recent program highlights:

Raising a Reader: Why It's Important and How to Motivate Your Child to Read
Featuring Dr. Margie Gillis (September 24, 2024)

PCSD Professional Development Day - Reading Program Implementation
Featuring Brent Conway (October 4, 2024)

MANY PEOPLE FIND IT SURPRISING TO LEARN THAT:

  • 1 out of 5 people is affected by dyslexia (NIH Research)
  • Dyslexia is the most common learning disability
  • A child who is unexpectedly struggling to learn to read is most likely dyslexic
  • Dyslexia is often hereditary: a child of a dyslexic parent has a 50% chance of being dyslexic

With 4,700 students enrolled in the Park City School District, over 900 students may be dyslexic.
