Every family deserves somewhere to turn.

When someone in your family is sick, injured, or something just doesn’t seem right, you want to know there is someone you can call. Someone who will listen. Someone who can help.

For those without health insurance, knowing where to turn isn’t always that simple.

For 27 years, People’s Health Clinic (PHC) has served as the medical home for uninsured residents of Summit and Wasatch Counties. Here, patients can access primary care, women’s health, pediatrics, mental health services, specialty care, and help navigating a complicated healthcare system. PHC has 9 staff and 40 volunteer providers delivering 17 specialties.

In 2025 alone, 4,208 people relied on the Clinic for 21,448 patient visits, an 18% increase from the year before. And in 2026, the need continues to rise. More patients are coming through our doors, including a growing number of children and families.

For Debbie and Baby Edre, PHC was there from day one.

Before Edre was born, his mom, Debbie, did everything right.

She was working full-time. She applied for Medicaid and submitted every pay stub, form, and verification required.

Two months later, she was denied because she missed the income cutoff by a matter of dollars. By then, Edre had already been born, leaving her newborn baby without health insurance too.

So, Debbie turned to us.

While PHC Community Health Case Manager Joana helped Debbie navigate applications, verifications, and medical bills, our healthcare team made sure both mom and baby continued receiving the care they needed.

For Debbie, having PHC in her corner meant she could focus on caring for her new baby while our team helped her navigate a complicated healthcare system.

For Edre, it meant having someone looking out for his health from the very beginning.

More local children need us.

There are thousands of children in our community who don’t have health insurance.

This year, PHC has dramatically expanded access to pediatric care by bringing Dr. Zainab Kagen on board as Director of Pediatrics. The Clinic's 2025 Impact Report describes a growing number of children and families relying on PHC and the need for greater continuity and capacity in pediatric care.

Before, families could wait five to ten weeks for a pediatric appointment. Today, we can offer same-week appointments, and in some cases, even same-day care.

For a parent worried about their child, that means someone is there to help when they need it.
