This August, Shireen Ghorbani was announced as the new President and CEO. She had served as interim president since March 2025 and was the chief corporate affairs officer since fall of 2023.
Before her experience at Planned Parenthood, Shireen was a director of community health at Intermountain Health, where she focused on reducing Utah’s uninsured population, school-based clinics, and nutrition security. She is also a former Salt Lake County Council member, serving Utah’s second-largest government that provides services to a quarter of Utah’s population, and ran for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2018.
We're switching over to a new clinical records system with improved telehealth compatibility. MyChart (powered by EPIC) will be rolled out in April 2026.
January 2025
Planned Parenthood Action Council of Utah and the American Civil Liberties Union partnered to host Utah’s first Reproductive Rights summit. The event included local and national updates about the state of reproductive rights access, a panel, and trainings on topics like messaging, canvassing and advocacy.
May 2025
PPAU's 55th Emerald Anniversary Gala was held at Abravanel Hall and we welcomed Queer Eye star Johnathan Van Ness, who entertained guests with a comedy set. Reception attendees were greeted by local performers including Cheer Salt Lake, Lavender Menaces Brass Collective, and DJ Joune.
September 2025
PPAU invited donors and supporters to our annual Mingle In The Garden at Cactus & Tropicals. Attendees enjoyed beverages, small bites, and listened to remarks from our CEO. The event also launched our new Pollinator Program, which highlights the vital role local monthly donors play in sustaining PPAU's work.
