Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation: Empowering Youth, Building Healthy Communities and Promoting Inclusion

As we embark on a new year, the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation (UOLF) remains committed to its mission of enriching the lives of youth in our communities. Our focus on healthy communities, Latinx inclusion and youth scholarships continues to drive us forward. We're excited to share our progress and vision for the year ahead.

Empowering Youth Through Sport

At UOLF, we firmly believe in the transformative power of sports. With childhood participation in physical activity and organized sports dwindling at alarming rates, we are more dedicated than ever to instilling a lifelong love of physical fitness and healthy lifestyles.

Whether it's through providing physical education classes and camps to students at McPolin and Treasure Mountain -ensuring free/reduced lunch children can participate in our introductory sports programs - or actively working to achieve 20% Latinx participation in our initiatives inspired by the Solomon Fund, UOLF stands as a beacon of support for all our youth.

Our programs regardless of race, gender, ability level, or economic background  nurture essential social, emotional and leadership skills in children that they carry with them throughout their lives.

Expanding Our Reach

Through strategic partnerships with local school districts, we are making a significant impact on the lives of young people in our Olympic venue communities. Our sport-centered camps, classes, and development programs have expanded to include Learn to Sport, cross-country skiing, skating, biathlon, Multi-Sport (offering activities like swimming, pickleball, bouldering, gymnastics, karate and more), and our G-Force Skeleton program.

Highlights of Our Impact

Soldier Hollow

  • Over 128 qualifying children received free cross-country season passes and rentals last year.
  • In 2022-2023, 750 children from local school groups benefited from our free Learn to Cross-Country Ski programs.
  • Our Summer Adventure Camp touched the lives of 174 kids, with 29 of them benefiting from scholarships.

Utah Olympic Park

  • 45 low-income and LatinX youth attended our Summer FUNdamentals Camp, and we're planning to expand scholarship opportunities this summer.
  • Last year, 32 LatinX youth participated in a free Learn to Ski program at White Pine, including a special Family Ski Day for all.

Utah Olympic Oval

  • Our Learn to Skate program reached approximately 1,500 Kearns elementary school 4th and 5th graders annually.
  • We collaborated with the Granite School District's Transitions program to introduce special needs students to the Oval, with plans to grow this initiative.
  • Kearns high school students benefited from a free skating class for PE credit, with 75 of them participating.

A Stronger Commitment to Inclusion

UOLF and our Healthy Communities initiative are redoubling efforts to reach socio-economically underserved populations and promote diversity and inclusion through partnerships with school districts, healthcare organizations, corporations and non-profit organizations.
