WasteLess Solutions Inc

Feed More People. Waste Less Food. Protect Our Planet.

WasteLess is a Utah-based nonprofit working to reduce food waste and improve access to nutritious food. Since 2018, we’ve rescued more than 3.6 million pounds of surplus edible food from local businesses and redirected it to nonprofits, community programs, and families across Utah. By keeping good food out of the landfill and getting it into the hands of people who can use it, we’re building a food system that is better for people and the planet.

Food waste is both a food insecurity and a climate issue. When edible food decomposes in landfills, it generates methane, a powerful greenhouse gas. Wasting food also means wasting the land, water, labor, energy, and other resources used to grow, produce, transport, and prepare it. At the same time, more than 445,000 Utahns experience food insecurity. We work to educate individuals and businesses on how to reduce food waste and divert surplus to humans and animals.

WasteLess launched food rescue in Summit County in 2024, and in 2026 alone, we’ve hosted 54 Mobile Markets, rescued and distributed more than 15,600 pounds of food through those markets, and reached more than 2,000 community members. We now have seven community fridges throughout the area, with three more in development, creating additional places for people to access fresh food when they need it. We’re also transforming surplus catered food into hundreds of individual prepared meals using reusable containers, while working with local businesses, farms, volunteers, and community partners to keep good food circulating locally.

Our work in Park City is part of a larger effort to make Summit County a place where surplus food is recognized as a resource, not waste. By connecting businesses with community organizations, volunteers, and neighbors, WasteLess is helping advance Park City’s goal of becoming Zero Food Waste by 2030, while making sure more good food reaches the people and communities who can use it.
