$6,000 Goal

Last year, we awarded over $30,000 in scholarships to families in Park City and Summit County. We can't do it alone!

100% of your donation goes directly into the YMCA of Northern Utah's Strong Kids Scholarship Fund!

Your donation can make a significant difference in the lives of young individuals, creating memories and experiences that will last a lifetime. Donating to the YMCA Summer Day Camp Scholarship Fund is important because it provides children with the opportunity to participate in something that without your support, could be out of reach for them. For many, summer camps can be too expensive, but entirely necessary for working families.  By donating, you can help ensure that every child has access to a safe and nurturing environment where they can learn new skills, make friends, and grow as individuals!

Be sure to take a look at the "Parent Quotes" tab to hear from your neighbors about how financial support for camp impacted them this past summer!

How do YMCA Summer Day and Overnight Camps Support Children and Teens?

  • Social Development: Summer camp provides children with the opportunity to meet and interact with kids from different backgrounds and cultures. They learn to make new friends, feel a sense of belonging, resolve conflicts, and improve social skills with their peers.

  • Independence and Confidence: Being away from their parents for an extended period helps kids develop a sense of independence. They learn to make decisions and solve problems on their own, boosting their self-confidence and resilience!

  • Physical and Mental Health: Summer camps encourage physical activity and outdoor play, which is crucial for children's overall health. By engaging in various activities like swimming, hiking, and sports, children develop their physical fitness and reduce sedentary habits. Additionally, overnight camps promote mental well-being by reducing stress and providing a break from technology to commune with nature!

  • Skill Development: Camps offer a wide range of activities and programs that allow kids to explore new hobbies and develop new skills. They can engage in activities such as arts and crafts, music, sports, or adventure activities, which helps them develop their interests and abilities in a supportive environment.

  • Connection with Nature: YMCA Overnight Camps are located in Utah's beautiful Uinta National Forest. Spending time in nature fosters a deeper connection with the environment, leading to a stronger appreciation for the outdoors, and helps children develop a sense of environmental stewardship!

  • Cultural and Educational Experiences: Y camps provide cultural and educational experiences that can enhance a child's learning outside of the traditional school environment. Here, this includes field trips to museums, historical sites, or opportunities for cultural immersion with international staff!
