The Dave Macfarlane-Lala Martínez Scholarship honors the enduring legacies of Dave Macfarlane and Lala Martinez—two extraordinary individuals who believed deeply in the power of education to transform lives.
Dave Macfarlane was a compassionate leader whose generosity and philanthropic spirit opened doors for many first-generation students in Park City. He recognized the unique challenges faced by these students and was committed to helping them pursue higher education through financial support and encouragement. The MAC Scholarship, established in his memory, has already made a meaningful impact by helping students cover essential college costs such as housing, books, and tuition.
Lala Martinez, a devoted bilingual educator for over three decades, was a fierce advocate for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. She believed education was a “ticket out of poverty” and dedicated her life to ensuring every child—especially those often overlooked—had access to literacy, mentorship, and opportunity. Her passion and belief in her students changed thousands of lives.
Together, the Macfarlane and Martinez families continue this shared vision through annual scholarships at Park City High School for local students who demonstrate determination, resilience, and financial need. Their goal is to carry forward Dave and Lala’s legacy by empowering the next generation to pursue their educational dreams.
