PCHS Speech & Debate:
Our goal is to be #1 in Utah, and we need your support to get us there. 

What Your Donation Supports

Every contribution helps us build a strong foundation for our team. Here’s what your support makes possible:

• Coaching: Your support allows us to hire dedicated coaches who bring a wealth of experience, from college-level debate expertise to insights from our alumni.
• Tournament Judges: Qualified judges ensure fair competition and help our students learn, especially when we need support beyond parent volunteers
• New Software for Students Who Debate: Donations will be used to finance specialized debate software for students. We pay an annual fee to use Dropbox, which allows us to organize Microsoft Word documents that have been modified by Verbatim, a custom software that standardizes evidence formatting and allows faster transfer of prepared arguments into speech documents that can be read in debates.
• Meals at Tournaments: Assist with the essentials, including meals, so our team can stay energized and on task.
• Travel Stipends: Enable our team to compete beyond Park City, gaining exposure at regional and national levels.

Our Fundraising Goal: $11,111

This year we’re aiming to raise $11,111 through Live PC Give PC to ensure our team has the resources to thrive. Our goal is to be #1 in the state, and we need your help to get there!

As funding from the Park City Education Foundation has decreased over the years, private donations are more crucial than ever to keep our team thriving. Whether it's helping a student attend their first tournament or covering a crucial coaching session, every dollar makes a big difference.

And remember, the PCHS Speech and Debate Team is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (Tax ID 1642488). That means your donation is tax-deductible, and it goes straight to supporting our students’ educational experiences.

Our Achievements and What’s Next

Since our start in 2017, we’ve built a program that’s all about empowering students and helping them find their voices. Here’s a bit of what we’ve achieved:

• We have five students who are competing nationally this year.
• Our 2026-2027 season has started off strong, winning the University of Utah's Beehive Bonanza.
• We are Region Champions and have been for the past three years..
• We are two-time state champions, hoping for a third this year.
• We have strong speech and debate programming, where students are learning to think critically 
• Debate allows students to respectfully engage in opposing viewpoints by citing evidence appropriately 
• Speech and Debate gives students lifelong communication skills and fosters friendships that last a lifetime.

• We’re proud of our journey, but we know there’s more to come. With your support, the future is bright for our team.
