To reduce transportation and access barriers to our programming, this year we launched our Playground Ecology program. Instead of bringing students to us, we send an experienced WMI educator into schools and take students outside into their playgrounds and outdoor spaces to learn about the ecology that happens right in their school yard. This program targets 2nd and 3rd graders, and as with all of our school programs aligns closely with Utah sEED standards and the curriculum.
Topics covered include pollinators, trees, and the plant life that they see every day when they step outside.
