Liberty Sanctuary is a leading equine nonprofit dedicated to protecting America’s most vulnerable horses and banning the slaughter of our cherished American equines. We rescue equines from the slaughter pipeline and offer comprehensive care, training, and adoption programs. Our national advocacy efforts include launching SAFEACT.org to support the Save America's Forgotten Equines Act (SAFE Act, HR. 3475) currently in Congress to forever ban the export of American horses for slaughter. Our work has been featured on  ABC News, Fox News, Good Things Utah, Good Day Utah, Salt Lake Tribune, Park Record, NPR, and more. (Liberty News)    

We have made a lot of progress with our horses and program at Liberty in 2023 and have:

• Hired a game changing Director of Horsemanship, Ashley Dudas, who has made such an impact in developing and adopting out our horses
• Rescued 10 additional horses this year (and have also adopted out 10 horses)
• Incurred significant amount of medical costs in neutering colts on property
• Developed expertise and donated time offering medical assistance to other local sanctuaries
• Board over 30 rescues on property who cost $80K in hay alone
• Launched a groundbreaking advocacy tool, SAFEACT.ORG, in support of our legislative efforts to help pass the Save America's Forgotten Equines Act to forever ban the export of American horses for slaughter
• Been working to kick start a documentary on the horse slaughter industry to give voices to the voiceless

Your generous donation helps us to further our programs and care for the Liberty Herd. We currently have 30 rescues on property and welcome Summit and Wasatch county residents to learn of our mission and become part of Team Liberty! 92.3% of equines in the slaughter pipeline are young and healthy according to the USDA. Like many Parkites, we believe the American horse is an icon of freedom. American equines helped to develop our country and are partners, guides and even therapy.  They deserve to live peacefully with dignity.
