In 1875, two pioneering women, Sisters Augusta and Raymond of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, arrived in Utah determined to help underserved immigrants—mainly miners with little access to medical care. They quickly rallied support and funds to build Utah’s first miners hospital. Their vision didn’t stop there; soon, they established the Territory’s first Catholic schools, providing education in Ogden, Salt Lake City, and Park City.

For more than 150 years, the Sisters of the Holy Cross have extended compassion to the most vulnerable, identifying and addressing critical needs in our community. In 1994, they sold their hospital to reinvest in helping immigrants and underserved individuals through direct community services.

For the past three decades, Holy Cross Ministries has continued their mission, providing wraparound support for immigrant and low-income families. But to sustain and grow these essential services, we need community support. By joining the 1875 Club with a donation of just $18.75 a month, you become part of this enduring legacy of compassion.
